  20. Sure it can be, has been for decades, thanks to American taxpayers and
  21. their laws, and hopefully it will continue.  As an aside, it is worth
  22. noting that majority of humanity's throughput is in the public domain,
  23. and the collection just increases every passing year.

  30. Yes, indeed. In fact, within the next month or two, I will publish a
  31. public domain scheme interpreter, with exactly and *especially* that
  32. advice: everybody should take it, hack it, improve it, copyright it,
  33. hoard it, claim their own, avoid all acknowledgements to me and another
  34. commercial company which has contributed considerable development time,
  35. and use it, sell it, or do whatever their freedoms with public domain
  36. material allows them to do. If it is useful, if it solves their problems,
  37. saves development time and further helps Scheme replace other "common"
  38. languages, then I have ccomplished my goals. The original and its
  39. further releases [with whatever contributions] will forever remain
  40. in the public domain [yep, I can deal with any possible silliness,
  41. legal or otherwise] no matter what.
