  14. I'm trying to help a friend build the most current gcc and gdb for an
  15. HP-9000/827 (running HP/UX 8.02).  We would like the gcc to support
  16. debugging.  I'm a little confused about how to do this build.
  17.  
  18. I have gcc-2.3.3 and gas-1.38 (from prep.ai.mit.edu).  I also have
  19. pa-gas.u2.tar.Z, pa-gas.u3.tar.Z (a version of 1.36), and
  20. pa-gdb-4.6.tar.Z from jaguar.cs.utah.edu.
  21.  
  22. 1)Do I need to build gas before building gcc in order to get debugging
  23. support?
  24. 2)Will I be ok if I build gas-1.36 (The HP FAQ says that 1.38.1
  25. doesn't support HP/UX)
  26.  
  27. 3)Will gcc-2.3.3 support HP PA with debugging or do I need the version
  28. of 2.3.1 which is on jaguar (and has been specifically ported for HP
  29. PA)?  I think building the 2.3.3 release would be better than using
  30. the 2.1.1 because of bug fixes, etc.

  32. 3)Once I have gcc-2.x built, do I need to do anything special to build
  33. pa-gdb-4.6?

  35. 4)Are there any plans to integrate the utah changes into the
  36. gas/gcc/gdb standard distributions?
