- Greetings !
-
- We have an xview based network management software that(among other things)
- does the following:
-
- It collects packet data from the network and scrolls the same in a window on
- the console. It also saves this data to a file in /tmp. The problem is that
- eventually, /tmp is full and I get a write error. Also, the window system
- freezes, i.e., the mouse can be moved, but no window will accept focus.
- Once the application is killed, the system is back to normal.
-
- What I want to know is:
- Is there a way to limit the size of the file being written to /tmp ? I
- would like to do this from within the application itself.
- Ideally, I would like the user to be able to specify the size of the file
- at the time of invocation of the application.
-
- We run this application on SPARCstations in OpenWindows version 3.0.
-
- Any pointers to solve this problem appreciated.
- Please send your reply to anand@qualix.com
-
- Cheers !
- Vinay.
