  40.   Another idea is IDL, we use IDL to distribute Satellite and Radar Animation
  41.   loops on our whole Wide Area Network with 10 Sparc Servers and 200
  42.   Workstations (Sparc2/Sparc10). There are included Network capabilities,
  43.   powerful functions for visualization of sientific data, widgets for 
  44.   programming userinterfaces and a lot of  other features that are missing
  45.   in most of the other visualization packages. We tried a lot of other
  46.   products (Shareware-Image Distribution SCRY, Utah-Raster-Toolkit, 
  47.   Uniras, Splus and so on) before we decided to purchase IDL as our
  48.   primary developping tool, even for programming of userinterfaces,
  49.   we are really satisfied!

  90.                 IDL, Interactive Data analysis Language, is a
  91.         complete package for the interactive reduction, analysis,
  92.         and visualization of scientific data and images.  Optimized
  93.         for the workstation environment, IDL integrates a responsive
  94.         array oriented language with numerous data analysis methods
  95.         and an extensive variety of two and three dimensional
  96.         displays into a powerful tool for researchers.

  98.         publication quality hard copy output, and user-defined Motif
  99.         graphical user interfaces.
  100.                 Users can create complex visualizations in hours
  101.         instead of weeks with the aid of IDL's high level capabilities

  104.         signal processing, mapping, medical imaging, statistics,

  113.         The network distribution of IDL exists primarily for two classes
  114.         of users:

  116.                 1) People who would like a demonstration of IDL.

  118.                 2) Existing customers under a current software support
  119.                    agreement who wish to update their current installation
  120.                    with the latest release.

  122.         If you are a licensed IDL site, but you do not have a current
  123.         software support agreement, you are still free to make use of
  124.         this resource to update your installation. However, we ask that
  125.         you do it in a self sufficient manner, without calling on us
  126.         for help.

  132.         All of the systems listed below are used by their owners
  133.         for other tasks. Please try to transfer the larger files during
  134.         off hours so that these systems won't become bogged down with
  135.         IDL traffic. This will increase the good will towards the IDL
  136.         community and ensure that these systems remain available for this
  137.         purpose.
