  25. Once again I will use my auto licensing analogy:  We don't let everyone have
  26. a car and let them loose on the roads, THEN figure out who is capable of
  27. driving responsibly and who isn't.  We set up tests, require insurance,
  28. and monitor our roadways.

  30. I feel that we should not allow unrestricted use of handguns, then figure
  31. out afterwards who the criminals were.  Your own response indicates the 
  32. high number of repeat offenders that show up, yet the gun lobby has shown
  33. no interest in effecting the kinds of checks that may prevent even these
  34. people from aquiring handguns easily.

  36. Law abiding citizens that will not abuse the driving privilege are willing
  37. to take competency tests and get the proper liscenses in order to drive;
  38. without screaming 'that's being declared guilty before proof of innocence'.
  39. Why is it so incongruous to you to apply the same restrictions on handguns?
