- This happens constantly to me, and after observing it for months, I decided
- that it was a feature. What seems to happen is that any time a change that
- hasn't been reflected in the Finder window occurs, the attempt to Empty Trash
- causes this change (in icon positions, for example) which was 'queued' to be
- executed - if this meant that the file you just trashed needed to be rearranged,
- it gets magically sucked out of the trash and neatly replaced in the folder.

- I can always trash on the first try from the Finder on folders just opened.
- Otherwise it's almost all the time I have to do it twice. A trick I use is
- to rename a file I want to trash to force a folder update, so I know I can
- discard it in one try.

- I think that Jim is right about the synchronization being the 'cause' of
- the problem, but I don't know if it's the underlying filesystem sync or the
- Finder 7.0 itself.
