  19. We bought a Vax Q-bus subsystem from Contemporary Cybernetics a couple
  20. years back.  It did not work reliably.  I called complaining, and got 
  21. someone who sounded extremely stoned and did not know that their company
  22. made a Q-bus interface.  They said they would call me back, and they did
  23. not.

  25. About six months later, I tried again.  This time I got someone who knew
  26. exactly what the problem is.  "That controller doesn't work," he said,
  27. "You'll have to buy our newer model."  I was horrified.  I asked him how
  28. his company could sell products that didn't work and then claim that we
  29. should upgrade them in order to get the level of performance that we
  30. specified originally.  He called me an "asshole" and hung up on me.

  32. We did, eventually, have to buy a new Q-bus interface, and it did indeed
  33. solve our problem.  I can assure you, however, that we did not buy it
  34. from Contemporary Cybernetics.
