  27. Since you mentioned the Solaris 2.1 CD's, I assume you can afford (or
  28. have already spent) the $795 for a CD ROM drive.  In that case, you get
  29. the Cygnus/GNU for free off the Catalyst CD.

  31. Stop whining and grow up.  That is the first time I've heard anybody
  32. complain about Internet freeware because it costs too much to download.
  33. Of course, that's not *really* what you are complaining about - it's
  34. just another (albeit novel:-) excuse to bash Sun on that compiler thing.
  35. Give it up; it's a dead, dead horse by now.

  38. You complain that Sun took two years to transistion to Solaris 2; just
  39. what would have been a better timetable?  1 year from first hint to
  40. cutover?  3 months?  1 week?  I have no complaints with getting two
  41. years warning of what was coming, along with *lots* and *lots* of
  42. hints on what to do to make the transition easier.  You're not going
  43. to get much sympathy for reading and then ignoring the advice to use
  44. 5bin and 5lib.  It really isn't that hard to put 5bin first in your
  45. path, so you get the SysV behaviour by default.
