  25. I really suspect that Sun is trying to set themselves (and us) for the 
  26. long haul.  Unfortunatly this means (among other things) some pain, as
  27. in the move to SV4 derived Solaris.  It would seem to me that they want
  28. to get it over with.

  30. I think the real issue here is the software vendors who go, "oh, the
  31. software doesn't run on the new OS?!   Gosh."

  33. Another thought, there was resitance when Sun moved from the Sun 3 to the Sun 4
  34. class machines, but I don't hear a lot of calls for the new
  35. Sun 3/5000 server.  :-)  I think in the end people thought it was for the
  36. best.

  38. Please everyone, remember to budget for upgrades!  :-)  Hardware, software,
  39. staff, inflation, whatever... [honest, I'm not trying to sound preachy here]
