  17. Solaris 2.x includes a version of the run-time linker, and versions of
  18. shared libraries, to provide backwards compatibility.  However:
  19.  
  20.     1) if the application is *statically* linked with "libc", it
  21.        loses, because the SunOS 4.x and SunOS 5.x system call trap
  22.        interfaces are *not* binary compatible with each other;
  23.  
  24.     2) there may well be bugs in the libraries in question, or in
  25.        what kernel support was stuck in to help them out.
