  31.    proprietary software and OS's.  Now, they're telling everyone to
  32.    abandon their old knowledge and apps for a new OS.  What does Solaris 
  33.    incorporate that they could not put into SunOS???  Buying old hardware
  34.    to support an old OS is not an option in my opinion.  They should not
  35.    have caused such confusion in the first place.

  38.    alienate people who bought their machines.  Sun is no better and no
  39.    worse than other vendors who say, "do what we tell you to do when we
  40.    tell you to do it.  if you don't listen to us, we won't supprt your old
  41.    os forever and you won't be able to run our newest and fastest machines"

  43. In my opinion they are much better than other vendors.

  45.    This is the straw which will cause me to stop being Suns and start
  46.    purchasing new machines which seem more customer-oriented.  I 
  47.    have been really impressed with the way DEC is remanaging their
  48.    business and producing fast machines (i.e. Alpha).  I hate the
  49.    fact that our group works on VAXs, MIPs machines, and SUNs.  However,
  50.    with this ultimatum by Sun, I will not continue to purchase their
  51.    machines.

  57. think you are intentionally spreading propaganda because you like DEC.
  58. How long has the Alpha been running out in the real world?  What's the
  59. installed base?  How reliable are these workstations?
