- I get this Sparc I that crashes every few days with this error.
- panic: mmu_getpmg
-
- I'm running 3 Sparc I's in dataless mode with Quantum 105's un 4.1.2.
- I get hold of another Sparc I with identical drive. I take the Q105 out
- of it, re-address it, stick it in one of the other 3 machines. I format
- the new drive and test it 8 times using compare. Then I do a
- dd if=/dev/rsd0c of=/dev/rsd1c to duplicate the drives. I mount the new drive
- just long enough to change /etc/hostname.le0 and stick it back in the
- #4 Sparc. It goes along a couple of days and crashes with this
- error and a boot prompt. Turning it off, waiting 20 seconds, and rebooting
- seems to bring it back up until it fails again a few days later.
-
- So I say, maybe the dd was a bad idea. I repeat above with reformat, except
- I use newfs & dump & restore to build the "a" partition. Same results, it only
- works for a while. Do I have maybe a sporadic drive failure where swapping fails
- and the systems crashes? Or is this more likely to be an actual motherboard
- problem? I need to know what conditions could result in this error, and
- what it means. Any clues?
