- Well, Microsoft is so determined to take over the software market that
- they probably consider me a competitor too -- and I write COBOL on a
- mainframe! :-)
-
- Humor aside, GeoWorks is becoming a major player in the hand-held and
- pen computing markets. It's really more competition for Pen Windows
- than for Windows NT. That's been their aim all along; I understand
- that releasing a desktop version was initially just an interim project
- until the PC's-on-a-chip really came into their own.
-
- Of course that doesn't mean it doesn't make a good desktop GUI.
- Unlike Windows, it actually provides heavy-duty functionality to its
- apps so that developers don't have to keep re-inventing the same wheel.
- I think Novell would be wise to look seriously at a partnership with
- GeoWorks.

- Yep, it's due to go beta in early first quarter '93 (finally!).
- Actually, they decided to skip the SDK for ver. 1 and go straight to
- supporting ver. 2; that's what's taking so long. I'm looking forward
- to seeing what third parties can do with it.
