- Hi all. At least once a day (usually more) my Mac makes me want to
- punch it. Here's the deal - I'm using a IIci and run under Sys 7.0.
- I use Pagemaker and Freehand frequently, so I keep them always open
- for easy access. Quite often I find that I open a file in PM or FH,
- and then at some point later in the day want to delete it. I drag it
- to the trash and go to empty trash, but get a "trash cannot be
- emptied, file is in use" message. This would be desirable if the file
- were still *open*, but this happens even with files that I have
- closed hours before. It seems that the system is remembering that
- "at sometime today the file was opened; therefore it must still be
- in use". Bzzzzz! Wrong! It's not really "in use"; I want it deleted;
- stop hassling me!
-
- So, does anybody have perhaps a command/option key combo that will
- *force* the trash to empty, regardless of what the system *thinks*
- it should do? Or maybe a ResEdit hack to get around this problem?
- True, it's not that big of a deal - I just have to wait until I
- "quit" PM or FH and *then* empty the trash. But just the same,
- it's drivin' me nuts! :-)
