  13. The Brainstorm is probably the only remaining cost-efficient upgrade for the 
  14. Plus. But don't imagine you are getting a Mac II. It gives you a significant 
  15. speed increase (about 50%, but it is highly variable depending on whatyou do 
  16. most) but it gives you just a faster Plus, NOT a Mac II, or a Classic II, or an
  17. LC. If speed, not features, is what you feel lacking in your Plus then maybe 
  18. the Brainstorm is what you need. As Brian said in his response, you will have 
  19. to forever be concerned about system upgrades. Apple may continue to support 
  20. the Plus, but you can bet they won't make much effort to insure Brainstorm 
  21. compatibility. The only people who will ever care at all about keeping your 
  22. Mac compatible are the Brainstorm folks, and they won't care very much, since 
  23. their sale is done.

  25. I don't want to sound too negative: it IS still a decent deal. It works well, 
  26. has less compatibility problems than the more expensive and more complex '020 
  27. and '030 upgrades, and gives you about as uch speed as you can reasonably get 
  28. out of the Mac Plus architecture. But it won't be as fast as a Classic II, or 
  29. have the same range of compatibility. The CII costs a lot more, even allowing 
  30. the resale price of the Plus in. (maybe not a LOT more tho, de4pending on 
  31. whether you can get educational pricing) If you can lay out $250 now, maybe you
  32. can consider laying out a net $600 or so and get a CII or Performa 200. ( and 
  33. deal with trying to sell a Plus)
