  13.     I could be mistaken about all of this, so...

  15.     If you look at the heads of a standard floppy drive you'll notice
  16. that there is not much area between the disk media and the heads. I also would
  17. be lead to believe that the field put out by the heads of the FD are quite 
  18. strong as far as the disk media is concerned. Since the 3.5" disk is of a 
  19. different media type than the older 360k 5.25" DD disks, I'd guess that the
  20. are less succepable than the 3.5" disks. The 3.5" disk also has a good sum of
  21. metal on it to disappate the H field, not to mention the thicker plastic
  22. between the media and the source h field. 
  23.     As far as the degausing coil, I think that most of the M feild exists
  24. OUTSIDE the loop. If that person placed the coil on the ground and then 
  25. placed the disks inside the loop in the ground, them most of the feild wasn't
  26. even affecting the disk.

  28.     Unfortuantly, I didn't do to well in ElectroMagnetic Feilds one last
  29. term, an I'll have to try again this term 8-(. So, ask this question at a
