- I could be mistaken about all of this, so...

- If you look at the heads of a standard floppy drive you'll notice
- that there is not much area between the disk media and the heads. I also would
- be lead to believe that the field put out by the heads of the FD are quite
- strong as far as the disk media is concerned. Since the 3.5" disk is of a
- different media type than the older 360k 5.25" DD disks, I'd guess that the
- are less succepable than the 3.5" disks. The 3.5" disk also has a good sum of
- metal on it to disappate the H field, not to mention the thicker plastic
- between the media and the source h field.
- As far as the degausing coil, I think that most of the M feild exists
- OUTSIDE the loop. If that person placed the coil on the ground and then
- placed the disks inside the loop in the ground, them most of the feild wasn't
- even affecting the disk.
