- I have a 486 DX2/66 with an AMI BIOS.
- When I boot it takes about 5 seconds till I get the prompt,
- but sometimes it takes 45 seconds!
-
- I found out that it takes more time when I have a diskette in drive A:
- (1.2 Mb) with the door open. The boot sequence specified in the CMOS
- setup is A: then C:.
-
- So why does it care that I have a diskette in the floppy drive if the
- door is open? Does it wait for me to close the door? I would expect it
- to ignore the presence of the diskette and continue directly to
- booting from C:.
-
- Can it be the fault of the controller? I am using an Orchid IDE-LB
- Any ideas/comments/suggestions will be appreciated.
-
- If you do not experience the same phenomenon, please email me too so I
- can report it as a problem.
