  19. vi(1) sends the terminal an escape sequence in order to put it into
  20. what you're calling "raw mode".  In HP terms, you want to put the
  21. terminal into "Transmit Functions" mode.  If you check the HP817's
  22. terminfo database you will find that the terminal init string contains
  23. an "\e&s1A" to put the terminal into Transmit Functions mode.
