- While home from school, I dug out my old C64 and played around a bit. It
- just so happens that I had a C compiler that I purchased for about $5.00 at
- Electronics Boutique a few years ago called Power C by Spinaker Software.
-
- Has anyone else used this package. It seems pretty nice. It has a SHELL program
- that turns the C64 into a UNIX like developement environment. The compiler
- seems to make some decent code and runs fairly fast. There are both C64 and 128
- versions inclded in the package. I recomend it to anyone trying to learn a
- little C (like myself) and would like to do it on the 64.
-
- There are a couple of things that I'm having problems with though....
-
- 1) If I load the CED editor, enter a program, then go back to the shell and
- compile it, when I try to load up the linker, the disk spins and the system
- just sits there. If I do a cold boot, load up the shell, then immediately
- load up the linker, it works fine. I have an EPYX Fastload cartidge on my
- system.....
-
- 2) I can't seem to figure out what switch to use in the printf function to
- cause force a newline. In normal C it's \n, but as we all know, the c64 doesn't
- have a \ key! Any ideas?
-
- 3) The documentation REALLY SUCKS! It's just a little 30 page booklet that
- doesn't seem to have any usefull information in it. It only has the function
- key definitions, the editor commands, shell commands, and REALLY sketchy
- descriptions of the function libraries.....
-
- Well, just thought I'd share this all with you. I am glad to be able to still
- use my C64 for some worthwhile adventuring in the land of programming. Too
- bad I have to leave it in a few days to return to school and my Amiga......
