- This is a workable solution but there will be restrictions. I just tried
- a ZMM-149, ZDS Paper White Monochrome VGA monitor on my A1200. The only
- mode that was usable was the Productivity Mode using the Multiscan
- monitor type. This sets up the amiga output for a 31.44 kHz rate.
-
- The DblNTSC monitor type would not work, even when the VGAOnly
- monitor type was included. No doubt it was because the ZMM-149
- has a input Horizontal rate of 31.49 kHz +/- 1 kHz. Guess what?
- the DblNTSC mode is 27.66 kHz and with VGAOnly, its boosted to
- 29.20 kHz, still a little short of the monitors range. On the
- other hand, A ZCM-1492 I tried would sync up to the DblNTSC (only
- when I also included VGAOnly) even though it has the same spec,
- 31.49 kHz +/- 1 kHz.
-
- I guess what this means is Buyer beware. Try your monitor before
- you buy it if you want to use the DblNTSC mode with a VGA only
- monitor.

-
- Paper White just means you get a grey/white CRT tube instead of the
- more traditional Amber or Green CRT. All the monochrome VGA monitors
- only have a Green pin (of the original Red, Green, and Blue pins) so
- you will only see colors that have green content. Of course all
- these monitors will show (gray|amber|green) scales, depending on
- the analog level presented to the lone green input.
-
- Hope this helps.
