- My point is that anyone can set up these systems which will bother
- everyone else. And in a large environment, that is a lot of systems. I
- don't control the desk top so I have to configure the network to avoid
- people hurting each other.

- Another poster pointed out that you can configure to pass ONLY BOOTP as
- far as global IP goes but I still have the problem that I don't control
- ANY systems in the network so when these clients are screaming for a
- download, it is not in my power to re-configure the workstations who
- excessively log the download attempts.

- Its bad enough that I will bother the hosts in one subnet but now I will
- bother hosts in other subnets. Typically my customers get real
- irritated when hosts from another part of the network bother them.

- In any case, in a small environment or a totalitarian one, maybe BOOTP
- works but in a large, open environment, it causes about as many problems
- as it solves.
