- This is a very desparate plea for help. I am currently working for a
- very small company, and am having a very tough time convincing them that
- the documentation which came with the bar-code-reader they just bought
- (for a good sum of money) is not sufficient for me to talk with it over
- the serial port. There is no mention of what the data looks like, and
- definitely no sample code. There isn't even a pin-out of the port,
- although I'm assuming it is standard 2-3,4-5,7. (Although the port
- on the unit is SCSI, the cable which plugs into it has a standard
- RS232 port, with only the above pins, and pin 20, being used) BTW,
- what is pin 20?
-
- The unit is from Symbol Technologies, in Bohemia, NY, USA.
- We have the following:
- - Datawell 160 (socket/mount for portable code-reader)
- - LS8560 Scanner (plugs into above)
- - Omnilink LL500-I100 (goes between DW160 and computer
-
- Please, can somebody help me? Today at work I had to argue with
- my boss for 15 minutes before I could convince her that my program
- wasn't working because the (above-mentioned) unit wasn't plugged in,
- and that we simply needed an adapter to plug it into the wall!
- Please, if you can tell me anything about the above unit, preferably
- to do with talking to it on the serial port (reading its data), I'd
- really appreciate it.
