- This is a very good point. Trident, for example, have spent probably
- just as much money on developing OS/2 drivers for their cards . . . and
- then they let us have it for nothing. They might have, like other video
- card makers, kissed off users who converted to OS/2, but they didn't. This
- puts them in the short list for new video cards -- a smart move.
-
- CMS, to their credit, haven't refused to provide an OS/2 driver for
- their products. They have, however, effectively increased the cost to
- OS/2 users by about a third, without actually increasing the value
- (i.e. backing up data). Will this matter? It depends, I suppose, on the
- alternatives.
-
- So, let's put the question: given the effective price of the CMS tape
- drives (i.e. tape drive + $100), what are the competitively-priced
- alternatives for OS/2 users?
-
- Please include a short description with your answer, as well as the
- approx. retail price (and street price if known). Please email. I will
- post a summary of any information that reaches me by January 5. (This
- information will also be included in the next newsletter for the Vancouver
- PC Users Society -- the submission deadline for which is, coincidentally,
- the same day.)
