  13. I need to know how to get the ASPI driver to work with my SCSI stuff and
  14. still be able to boot off of my IDE hard drive.

  16. I have a PS2 (model 70) running only OS/2 2.0 which boots off of the internal
  17. IDE hard drive (only one partition on it).  I also have the Adaptec AHA-1640
  18. SCSI host adapter.  Off of this I have a 300 meg SCSI drive and an Exabyte 8200
  19. SCSI tape drive.  I dissabled the BIOS on the Adaptec so that the system boots
  20. of the IDE, as it should.  My problem is that the system hangs when it gets
  21. to reading the config.sys file IF the file has a reference to the ASPI driver.
  22. I have gotten the SCSI hard to work with the IDE drive but I can't use the
  23. tape drive until I can use the ASPI driver because I MUST run gnutar (gtak)
  24. to make tape for unix machines.

  26. How should I set up my config.sys (the BASEDEV lines) to get the ASPI driver
  27. to work.  Here's the relavant parts of what I have:

  31. BASEDEV=OS2DASD.DMD
  32. BASEDEV=AHA164X.ADD

  36. As soon as I uncomment the ASPI line I the system hangs on boot.

  38. I know this should work because I got our DELL 486 to work but it didn't
  39. have an IDE hard drive, just SCSI.  It had on SCSI drive and one SCSI tape
  40. drive and the ASPI stuff installed just fine.  I even got the gtak pakage
  41. to work just fine.

  43. Any ideas, suggestions or comments would be appreciated.  Please email me
  44. responses and I can post the solution(s) when it is all figured out.
