- The use of IRQ5 for hard disks is correct for older 8088-type machines,
- but not for ATs. I believe that most ATs use IRQ14 (cascaded through IRQ2)
- for their hard disks. SCSI controllers don't always follow this pattern,
- but most of the MFM, ESDI, and IDE controllers I've seen use IRQ14.

- In most AT-type machines IRQ5 should be free for whatever device you
- want to use it for; I'm using it for my ethernet card here in the office,
- and at home I have it assigned to a mouse. If you have an XT with a hard
- disk then steer clear of IRQ5 but otherwise you should be fine.
