- I have vmode monitor in my autoexec.bat. I haven't tried removing it, so I
- don't know if it's required or not. It doesn't bother me to have it there
- if that's what you mean.

-
- The service "pak" drivers work fine for me. I do have to use the trick
- mentioned in the README file to run vmode 28 (or whatever) when I boot so
- the desktop will sync. Have you tried this? It makes everything else work
- nicely.
-
- Another trick is to set up your monitor (run vmode monitor, etc.) then run
- svga on from a DOS session (i.e. copy svga.exe and boot real DOS. make an
- \os2 directory if it doesn't exist on your DOS partition. run svga on.)
- Then copy the \os2\svgadata.pmi file over to your OS/2 partition and reboot.

-
- My monitor is syncing quite nicely at 72 Hz in 800x600. After I run vmode
- 28, that is.

-
- I have a NEC 4FG and a Diamond SpeedSTAR 24 (not X). The NEC does help, but
- that hasn't stopped me from having sync problems. Many of the sync problems
- are caused because the chip's registers aren't being programmed correctly,
- so there's nothing to sync to. For example, If I run my monitor at high
- refresh rates, full screen OS/2 sessions won't sync. For me, that's a small
- price to pay :-) I also have to run vmode 28 or something before the screen
- will sync when I boot. Compared to using 640x480x16, that's a small
- annoyance.
-
- Also, sometimes a SVGA program will leave the desktop unsynced. For that,
- I have the vmode 28 program set up as an icon in the upper left. Then all
- I have to do is hit left arrow, up arrow a few times, hit return, et voila!
- My screen is synced.
-
- Hope these tips help,
