- I'm in the market for a new 486DX2 motherboard with VL-Bus. I called
- Motherboard Warehouse, and they had two boards which fit this
- description. The first was from VEGA for $275, and the second was from
- AIR for $325. Both prices are for 256k of Cache, and no processor.
-
- The differences were that the AIR had 3 VESA slots while the VEGA only
- had 2, and the salesman said the AIR board could do bus mastering. I
- asked if this meant it was an EISA board, but he said no.
-
- So, has anyone used one of the motherboards? I'm running OS/2, and it
- would be a real plus if someone could say that they've had no problems
- getting OS/2 running with either of these boards. Also, what
- exactly does this bus mastering feature mean for a ISA-VESA board? Is it
- worth the extra 50 bucks? If anyone would like to suggest a different
- board, that would be fine also.
-
- I've directed follow-ups to comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.
