- This is related, but probably not a solution for you.....
- I bought an Intel Satisfaxion/400 which only has a 16450 UART, but has
- a 512k buffer on the board (yes, that's right, 1/2 a meg for a buffer!).
- I routinely run my modem over a 14.4K v.42bis connection in both DOS and
- OS/2 sessions, and I NEVER lose characters or get a 'lost' modem. Not
- only that, but the 'pulse' monitor app shows that the system load doesn't
- flatline at near 100% during downloads/uploads like any of the other
- modems I tried. And this was even with the 'old' drivers and before
- I applied the Service Pak. Anyway, someone interested in buying a modem
- might want to take a look at the Intel Satisfaxion line. I personally
- run the modem on COM3, IRQ5, Port 3E8 and the modem on IRQ11, and it
- works great with OS/2. And even though it only has a 16450 UART on the
- board, the 512k buffer does a better job helping the computer cope with a
- high-speed connection that a 16550 UART ever could. I'm really happy
- with the modem, and no, I have no connection with Intel besides being
- a 90% satisfied customer (I'd be 100% satisfied if Intel would port
- their wonderful OCR Fax software over to OS/2)...
