- I guess I am lucky. I simply close the windows that I am through with and go
- through the shutdown process. I never get anything that was not there before I
- shutdown last. As for the virtues of turning off your machine.
-
- 1 - Lightning. Murphy's laws says that if you leave your computer on and leave,
- it will rain and rain bad before you can get home. Of course Mother nature
- cannot strike every single computer, so she causes a wide area brown out
- causing your P/S to crap out and bomb off your system.
- 2 - Heat. My computer room gets so hot compared to my other rooms that I have
- closed most of the other vents off.
- 3 - Cats. Never forget to lock your keyboard and put your mouse in a holder.
- There are cat magnets built into computer I/O devices. They love to walk
- on my K/B and bat my mouse around (at least that makes sense). One of them
- has figured out that the little arrow on the screen moves when the mouse
- is moved. Cute, but annoying when PCPLUS for DOS freaks with mouse
- movement.
- All of this aside, unless I am leaving for more than a 12 - 14 hours, I leave
- mine running with the K/B locked and the mouse in its hole.
