- If you're using Win3.1, you can use the Multimedia file libraries. They handle
- buffered IO to/from the disk. Although I think they were intended for use
- writing/reading RIFF file format, you can use the them for simple IO.

- I've done no comprehensive benchmarking, but an application I have that uses
- the MM IO libraries gets a little over 1MB/sec to disk running in Enhanced
- mode. I'm using an Adaptec 1740 on an HP Vectra 486/33, your milage may vary.
- I expect that you could do better than 1MB per sec, though, because my
- program has several other things going on that steal cycles from disk access.
