- minicom is available from Mike van Smoorenberg, miquels@maestro.htsa.aha.nl.
- For what my recommendation is worth, I _do_ recommend it.
-
- In passing, why is minix such a bitch to get working with an incoming modem ?
- Outgoing is no problem - term works quite well, and you can hide the details
- with an alias, and if you have minicom or some similar comms program, you're
- home, hosed down, and ready for a feed bag. But incoming..... A contact of
- mine in South Australia reckons that getty is brain dead and has hacked out
- new versions of init, getty and modem. He has sent me his versions, but I
- haven't yet installed them. But why is this necessary ? Has _anybody_ been
- able to use the currently distributed versions (I'm using 1.5.10) ? I'd be
- very interested to hear from anyone who has, and would be interested in
- comment from people in a position to know all the answers (_ast_, if he has
- time).
-
- At the moment I can't even get login to work properly with a modem. I have
- to wait until the local modem has answered and hand shaking has taken place,
- then kill login. Init starts a new login, and this one works - ie, gives a
- login message. Everything is OK from there on. But you can't take this
- seriously as a way to work.
-
- Comment, anyone ?
