- My brother and I got ahold of the A-set of the SLS, 0.98pl5. We made
- the diskettes and everything, and excitedly rebooted his computer with
- the a1 disk in the drive(System stats will follow). It got to the
- question about video modes and proceeded to reboot the computer. We
- tried all 4 modes that it came up with, as well as the default. Same
- results each time. Is this a known problem? Can anyone suggest a work
- around so that we can boot the system? N.B. I am an experienced unix
- programmer, so I can probably try some pretty complex stuff.
-
- System configuration:
-
- 386sx-25Mhz
- 3M memory
- SVGA card with 512k (SigmaVGH/H BIOS V2.68) <--Exact line from BIOS
- init
- 230M IDE drive.
-
- Has anyone gotten a similar setup to work, especially a SIGMA VGA card?
- Also, can someone give me a list of some well-known VGA cards (or
- cheap clones) that do work? We have to buy another VGA card for another
- machine, and we don't mind swapping the cards.
