- I've been trying to update to .99.1, lilo 0.7 and generally catch up
- with various improvements made over time. Here are some problems:
-
- I still seem to be having problems with the autodetection of floppy
- types. "mount /dev/fd0 /user" fails, but using fd0H1440 works fine.
- Am I alone? Shouldn't it work?
-
- When a new kernel source arrives, it shouldn't have tools/version.h so
- that idiots like me don't wonder why their new kernel claims to be
- compiled somewhere else. :-)
-
- I like the new config stuff. I'm not opposed to editing Makefiles by
- hand, but it was never clear (without actually *reading* something)
- what to do to get stuff I don't want out ot the kernel. It would be
- nice if it either set the keyboard or reminded people to do so.
- (Idiots abound).
-
- I'm trying to rid my system of old binaries. Is there a way that I
- can check to see what library an executable needs? Is there a magic
- entry to make file tell me? "Impure executable or object" isn't very
- helpful to me.
-
- Has someone compiled Kermit to use the same lock files as uucp &
- uugetty? Not a difficult job, but it would be nice if the kermit in
- SLS used the same lock files.
-
- Lilo is great, much nicer than shoelace. I like being able to choose
- from several kernels at boot-up. The documentation is complete to a
- fault. I think that a page or two could describe most of what one
- needs to know. Perhaps I'll try to do that.
-
- WARNING: Anyone updating binaries with SLS be careful not to let sls
- kill your passwd, group, rc & fstab's. This can be a drag.
