- Well, I dl'ed the a & b series disks for sls from sunsite, and
- installed them today. I set up the drive to have 4 partitions: DOS,
- swap, / and /usr. There were some inconsistancies reported during the
- installation, and I didn't get the b4/lx99.taz file (I could not find
- .99 src at sunsite at all), but it seems useable.
-
- I would like 80x50 text mode, though. (80x60 would be even better.)
-
- I had thought that sls .99 was out, but I only got .98-5. Running
- strings on /Image, though, found the line:
-
- Linux version 0.99-47 (root@softland) 12/14/92 19:41:34
-
- so I'm not sure just what version I *did* get. [SIGH]
-
- Anyway, I think I'm going to retry, as DOG won't recognize the dog
- partition at all, and I do, unfortunately, need to use it a bit.
-
- Anyway, is there a more up to date version out there? Do I have to
- ftp to Europe to get the 99.1 src? Would anyone who knows dos
- internals be willing to help me reverse-engineer the dos utilities
- that gateway provided to change the cpu speed, the power-savings
- modes, etc (I'll be finding out tomorrow whether they work in dosemu)?
