  12. I had just finished updating the TeX man pages (not done automatically
  13. by SLS which was pretty frustrating.. what do I know from groff!?!?!)
  14. and so I naturally figured on trying to update the whatis database.

  16. It seemed that makewhatis was an appropriate means of doing this but
  17. it chugged for a few minutes then reported several broken pipes... now
  18. my whatis database appears to be gone.
