  11. Hi, I read the FAQ (thanks for posting it, Lars!), but I am not 100%
  12. clear on certain bits, so I would like to ask for advice from the
  13. Linux users.  Here are the specs of the hardware i want to use as a
  14. platform, with questions following it:

  16. Motherboard     Micronics Gemini 486/33 w/16 MB of memory (ISA bus)
  17. BIOS            Phoenix 80486 ROM BIOS Plus Version 0.10 G17-2
  18. Disk Controller SCSI Adaptec 1542B
  19. Disk            340 MB SCSI Maxtor
  20. Video           Oak 512 + VGA B&W monitor
  21. Keyboard        Northgate Omni Key 101

  23. It was planned as a terminal server, so video was of secondary
  24. consideration.

  26. 1. Will Linux run on it?  Is anyone running it in a similar
  27.    configuration?  Any suggestions for changes (not too
  28.    extensive, hopefully)? 
  29. 2. I need to find (hopefully, as inexpensive as possible) a
  30.    spreadsheet and a database (up to 20-40 MB total table size) that
  31.    would exchange data nicely (from database to spreadsheet essential,
  32.    the other way is an icing on the cake).  Any recommendations? 
  33.    Costs involved? 
  34. 3. Does troff come with Linux?  Support for HP Laser Printers PCL?
  35. 4. Can it be installed from floppies?  
  36. 5. How much space is required to install Linux?
  37. 6. Does it have support for SCSI tape?
