- Hi *,
-
- I am sure my question has a real simple answer, but I am new to Linux
- (unix-like OS') and X-windows so I don't know what to look for. I've read the
- FAQ(s) but so far no luck. Here is my situation: I have a basic VGA card (OAK
- OTI chipset) so the only X mode I can use is X386mono. I have had some success
- when I attempt load X using one of the ET4000 chipsets, but the screen is
- greatly distorted. However, I can see that Xclock and a Bash window start when
- I press one of the mouse buttons. When I run X386mono - the X pointer appears
- on a cross-hatch background and I can move the pointer around, but no programs
- start when I press any of the mouse buttons.
-
- I would like to know how to instruct X386mono to startup some apps when it
- loads! I've played around with .xinitrc, but without success.
-
- Thanks for any and every answer!
