- I have a big unix box at work to use. I have installed the SLS
- package
- now (98.5). After spending almost 200 dollaros in Long Distance I
- have
- A1-4, B1-6, C1-3 up and running. Taylor UUCP is giving me a fit.
- I try to
- run it just like System V (the docs seem to agree) but I keep getting
- a
- message, "Event not found". New one on me.
-
- I wish I would have just done the SLS route from the beginning. If
- any
- new users are out there, pay CLOSE attention.
-
- Don't try to "hack" (even though we live for it). Do yourself
- a
- BIG favor and at least get A to C and install it according to
- docs. I tried grabbing the images here, and utilies there.
- Even grabbing them from the same board was a disaster. If you
- don't get the SLS you will most likely mismatch binaries and
- cause yourself more trouble than you want.
-
- Alright. Now that I have that done I tried compiling a new image for
- use with LILO. Much to my surprise it actually COMPILED... THE FIRST
- TIME. One problem though. In the make file I made modifications for
- NORMAL_VGA (that worked) and US keyboard (that didnt). It seems that
- my punctuation keys print something other than what is on the label.
- Keep in mind I uncommented the US like for KEYBOARD and commented the
- FINNISH line which was the uncommented in the make file.
-
- Any help would be appreciated.
-
- Other Question.
-
- I didn't grab the X series of SLS because the phone bill would
- bankrupt
- me. However, I grabbed XBASE1-1.ZIP and X75 . Much to my dismay, it
- appears that you must have SUPERVGA to use Xwindows. That would be a
- shame because a 680x480 display with a larger virtual window would
- still be very efficent. Can someone fill me in here? I deleted the X
- stuff for the time since it appears ir requires SVGA but the zips are
- nearby if I get the right info.
-
- Thanks.
