- This problem has been with me since 0.98pl5 with alpha scsi 6 and 7, and still
- exists in 0.99pl0:
-
- I'm using a Toshiba XM-3301TA CD-ROM (packaged for external use by CD
- Technology) on an Adaptec 1542 host adapter. This combination works fine
- with DOS-5, Windows 3.1, Windows NT, and ISC unix 3.0. When I try to
- use it with linux, I'm unable to mount the CD. I get a "CD-ROM I/O error
- dev 0b00 sector 64". The message goes on to say that it failed reading the
- superblock at iso_blknum 16.
-
- The devvice entry was made with "mknod /dev/cdrom b 11 0".
-
- The mount command I'm using is "mount -r -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt".
-
- I have tried this with several different CD's all of which work under
- the other OS's.
-
- Attempting to read a CD with cat or od ("cat /dev/cdrom") results in a
- register dump and a console message which resembles a kernel panic, but the
- system stays up.
-
- I'd sure appreciate a pointer to resolving this, as the ability to read CD's
- is important to me.
-
- Thanks, in advance, for any help ...
