  12. With the assistance of a more-knowledgeable friend and a copy of the
  13. elm documentation, I've set up a number of filter rules to save
  14. incoming mail to appropriate folders.  This is an excerpt from my
  15. ~/.elm/filter-rules file, generated by filter -r:

  17. Rule 1:  if (from = "MAC-L") then
  18.           Save /acs/top/3/dnmiller/Mail/macintosh
  19.  
  20. Rule 2:  if (from = "Baltic") then
  21.           Save /acs/top/3/dnmiller/Mail/balt-l
  22.  
  23. Rule 17:  if (from = "hungary") then
  24.           Save acs/top/3/dnmiller/Mail/hungary
  25.  
  26. Rule 19:  if (from = "perform-l") then
  27.           Save acs/top/3/dnmiller/Mail/perform-l
  28.  
  29. Rules 1 and 2 work fine, but rules 17 and 19 do not. Mail is left in
  30. the general queue, and ~/.elm/filterlog reports the following:

  45. Can some wise soul tell me what is happening here? Why do rules 1 and 2
  46. work? Rules 17 and 19 seem somehow to be recognized by elm, but not acted
  47. upon.

  49. I'm hoping to leave on vacation before long, have plenty of disk storage
  50. space so would prefer not to set nomail or otherwise stop the flow of
  51. messages, but shudder to think what the local system administrator would
  52. do with a week's worth of accumulated, unread mail.
