  17. This involves a simple hardware mod.  Turn off the power, disconnect the
  18. line cord and open the PC's case so you can get at the motherboard.
  19. Locate the speaker and take a sharp tool like a pencil and poke several
  20. small holes around the center of the speaker until the voice coil has been
  21. disabled.  Close it up and turn it on and test.  If you unplug your PC and
  22. move it to a different office, the speaker remains disabled, so I believe
  23. this is a portable solution to the problem.
