  11. Readers here will have seen my recent posts describing problems with
  12. two portable modems -- the US Robotics Worldport 9600 MNP modem, 
  13. and the Macronix 96-144 modem.  Each was about the size of a pack of
  14. playing cards, or a little bigger.

  16. Neither one seemed to work as it should.
  17.  
  18. So here is my wish list.
  19.  
  20. V.32 and V.32bis speeds for data.
  21.  
  22. At least 9600 bps for fax send and receive.
  23.  
  24. MS-DOS software for fax send and receive.
  25.  
  26. MNP4 and 5, and V.42 and V.42bis.
  27.  
  28. Shirt pocket size, more or less.
  29.  
  30. Lots of LEDs including EC.
  31.  
  32. Sensible design, long warranty, my choice of battery or AC adapter.
  33.  
  34. Lots of contented users.
  35.  
  36. With that wish list, what can people recommend?

  38. So far I have had one suggestion -- the Multi-Tech Systems
  39. MT1432Mu modem, said to list at $900 and to street at $549.

  41. Any comments on that modem?  Any suggestions of other modems?
