- When connecting hayes compatible modems to UNIX systems where the modem is
- to be used bidirectional (both call in and call out) how can one configure
- the system to avoid problems with the response codes and (uu)getty.
-
- With hayes compatible modems you can't disable the "RING" and "CONNECT" mesgs.
- on incomming calls without disabling all response codes, or can you ?
-
- The problem then is that "RING" activates (uu)getty which sends out
- "(something..)login:". This activity on the DTE side while call up on the
- other side confuses the modem so that it only "picks up the receiver" but
- gives no answer tone to the caller.
-
- You can't just disable all response codes because then "OK" is missing
- when calling out from DTE.
-
-
- How is this problem normally handled ?
-
- Good advices are wellcome !
-
-
- Thank you in advance.
