- Well, it turns out that the 16550 UART is necessary at any higher speeds,
- and my old communications software (Procomm+ 1.1b) doesn't support the
- 16550 (pcplus 1.1b came out in 1988). I also tried Procomm+ 2.0 which
- does have 16550 support but it loves to lock up with the PM14400FX.
- Procomm+ 2.01 probably works better (I haven't tried it), but I'm now using
- Telix 3.20, which works flawlessly! I've got it wide open at the moment at
- 57600 bps, and not a hiccup. Those of you who are having similar
- dropped-character problems with this modem might consider trying a
- different communications program as well. It sure worked for me...
-
- Many thanks to those who responded to my query (especially Rick up in Canada)
-
- Cheers!
