  47. Well, it turns out that the 16550 UART is necessary at any higher speeds,
  48. and my old communications software (Procomm+ 1.1b) doesn't support the
  49. 16550 (pcplus 1.1b came out in 1988).  I also tried Procomm+ 2.0 which
  50. does have 16550 support but it loves to lock up with the PM14400FX. 
  51. Procomm+ 2.01 probably works better (I haven't tried it), but I'm now using
  52. Telix 3.20, which works flawlessly!  I've got it wide open at the moment at
  53. 57600 bps, and not a hiccup.  Those of you who are having similar
  54. dropped-character problems with this modem might consider trying a
  55. different communications program as well.  It sure worked for me...
