- Yes, I have tested the Scout+ external on a Mac Plus with some different
- com programs and it seem to work fine. The cable I used and which comes
- with the modem allows hardware handshake. Its also the same cable which
- Apple recommends for Appletalk Remote Access. One thing to remember is
- that DTR needs to be forced ON with this setup. In the case of the
- Scout+, you issue the command:
-
- AT&F&D0&W
-
- to set the modem up with factory register defaults (enables *F3 hardware
- flowcontrol) and forces DTR ON and writes this configuration to NVRAM, so
- that it also resets to these parameters next time you turn it on or reset it.
-
- For Appletalk Remote Access users there is a script available now, in
- fact its two, one written recently by Jim Kateley of Apple, and the
- other one a bit older and stuck together by yours truly.
-
- The fax side works with the bundled Quicklink II. I found its important
- to set the number of lines correctly (66 for the Mac Plus) so that the
- faxed output appears without overwrites.
