  18. I'll recommend the modem I have.  Practical Peripherals PM14400FXSA.
  19. I'll also recommend the people I got it from, PC Connection. 1-800-800-0004,
  20. if I remember correctly.  They have it for $399, so if you have to have it
  21. for under $400 _including_ shipping and handling, you'll have to go elsewhere,
  22. other folks sell it for a little bit less.

  24. The modem supports v.32bis/42bis/32/42/22bis/22/21/29/27ter.  And other stuff.
  25. It comes with QuickLink II/Fax software, works just fine with other stuff too.
  26. The modem is covered by a lifetime warranty.  ($15 for return shipping if you
  27. have to send it back to get fixed).
  28. ROM upgrades are free, and thus far have come out every 3-4 months.  You do
  29. have to call and request them.
  30. Software upgrades are also free, though not as frequent as ROM upgrades.
  31. Support is available via voice, bbs, fax, and CompuServe.  In the voice
  32. department, I suggest calling late at night and leaving a message on their
  33. voice-mail system.  A tech will return the call (their expense) the next
  34. morning.

  37. the first ROM upgrade.
