- Just last week I purchased a four port dumb serial card, "4-COM,"
- made by STB Systems, Inc. It is a 16 bit card. A single square chip
- (I can't power down to get the number) drives the four serial ports,
- and supports the NS16550A-style 16 byte queue. The board supports
- interrupts 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, and 15, eight different port
- addresses, serial port speeds from 50 to 112K bps, and individual or
- shard interrupts on a port by port basis.
-
- I currently have the board configured for ports 3-6. An ordinary
- dumb card supports ports 1 and 2. The X00 FOSSIL supports all 6 serial
- ports. I'll soon add a third BBS phone line, and I will connect the new
- modem to this card.
-
- You still haven't seen a 16-bit dumb serial card, but now you know
- about one.
