  16.    Nor will you, ever.  The T1000 does not do V.32; it is a PEP-only modem.

  20.    I've heard mention of trouble between the ZyXEL and T1000 and I own one of 
  21. each, so I thought that I would check it out.  Sure enough, the T1000 won't 
  22. accept a call from the ZyXEL!  The ZyXEL's places the call, ignores the PEP 
  23. tones (actually, reports them as "RINGING"), and reports CONNECT 2400/ARQ/MNP4 
  24. (exactly what I'd expect from the way that I have the two modems configured).

  26.    However, the T1000 does not report "CONNECT", and eventually times out with 
  27. a "NO CARRIER" and hangs up.  The ZyXEL treis desperately to retrain and 
  28. finally reports "Carrier Lost".

  30.    I don't know what's behind it.  A similarly configured USR Dual Standard 
  31. (14.4 HST, 14.4 V32.bis) connected perfectly in an identical test. <sigh>
