  36. Larry's question was *entirely* relevant to your article.  Telebit has
  37. never promised to support V.fast (when it's finished) in the WorldBlazer.

  46. On the contrary, I'm afraid he was correct in questioning your assumption
  47. the upgrade would be merely a firmware swap.

  49. It will not.  The WorldBlazer hardware platform does not have enough cpu/dsp
  50. power to handle the proposed V.fast modulation methods.  Heck, *ANY* modem
  51. manufacturer who promises a firmware-only upgrade to V.fast is talking
  52. through their hat.  As Toby Nixon has stated repeatedly, key parts of the
  53. proposal haven't been nailed down yet.  How can they know they have enough
  54. power to implement it with the present hardware if the proposal's requirements
  55. are not yet known?

  57. Just because Telebit said an upgrade will exist doesn't mean it will be
  58. a firmware upgrade.  It's just as likely to be a specially priced modem
  59. swap.

  61. If the Telebit rep you spoke with explicitly told you it *would* be a
  62. firmware upgrade, please let me know.  I'll need to clarify the technical
  63. details for them.
