- Mr. Tener,
-
- Larry's question was *entirely* relevant to your article. Telebit has
- never promised to support V.fast (when it's finished) in the WorldBlazer.

- On the contrary, I'm afraid he was correct in questioning your assumption
- the upgrade would be merely a firmware swap.
-
- It will not. The WorldBlazer hardware platform does not have enough cpu/dsp
- power to handle the proposed V.fast modulation methods. Heck, *ANY* modem
- manufacturer who promises a firmware-only upgrade to V.fast is talking
- through their hat. As Toby Nixon has stated repeatedly, key parts of the
- proposal haven't been nailed down yet. How can they know they have enough
- power to implement it with the present hardware if the proposal's requirements
- are not yet known?
-
- Just because Telebit said an upgrade will exist doesn't mean it will be
- a firmware upgrade. It's just as likely to be a specially priced modem
- swap.
-
- If the Telebit rep you spoke with explicitly told you it *would* be a
- firmware upgrade, please let me know. I'll need to clarify the technical
- details for them.
