  11. I just implemented my crude-but-effective solution to periodic modem
  12. lockup.  I have some NEC 9635s and a Telebit TrailBlazer that sometimes
  13. lose their marbles, but are fine after a power-cycle.  So I went down to
  14. the hardware store and bought a 24-hour timer, and set it to turn the
  15. power off at 3 A.M., and back on a little later.

  17. I prefer the electro-mechanical timers to the digital ones, because they're
  18. immune to noise and spikes.

  20. Now I don't have to baby-sit my modems every morning, and can have a
  21. cup of coffee instead.
