- I just implemented my crude-but-effective solution to periodic modem
- lockup. I have some NEC 9635s and a Telebit TrailBlazer that sometimes
- lose their marbles, but are fine after a power-cycle. So I went down to
- the hardware store and bought a 24-hour timer, and set it to turn the
- power off at 3 A.M., and back on a little later.
-
- I prefer the electro-mechanical timers to the digital ones, because they're
- immune to noise and spikes.
-
- Now I don't have to baby-sit my modems every morning, and can have a
- cup of coffee instead.
